Panel Discussion on Conflict and Water Security

At the invitation of His Excellency the Pakistani Ambassador, Mr. Muhammad Aamir, Dr. Wael Shadid had the honor of attending a panel discussion on conflict and water security on Monday 4th May 2026, which addressed several topics, including relationship between conflict and water security, the humanitarian consequences of disruption to civilian water systems and the importance of restraint, cooperation and respect for established legal norms in addressing shared water challenges. It reflected on principles of international law, and the significance of the right to water and other relevant human rights in contexts affected by conflict and instability
